But if there's way too much language or violence or sex scenes or whatever and I don't really care what happens, I put it down, especially if I'm in the first 25%.Katie Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03393321967865851084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7599742805326677348.post-1635721559400095822017-01-21T13:20:54.344-08:002017-01-21T13:20:54.344-08:00It's not just the bad words. But there are a few that I just won't stand for.

In one of the above mentioned books there was talk of sex, people laying in nothing but sheets talking to a teenager, and the rape of a 14 year old girl... who never told ANYONE that she was raped. Really? Why?! Why put that in there and have her NOT say anything?! Grrrrr. You think I want my 15 year old niece reading about that? Nope! Sorry! I was beyond irritated at that point.Kathy Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16866693694627118740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7599742805326677348.post-64476175853852900152017-01-21T13:14:50.913-08:002017-01-21T13:14:50.913-08:00That's happened to me as well. I got like 80% ...That's happened to me as well. I got like 80% into a book and BAM! A sex scene. I also skipped over it. I was invested in the characters and I wanted to see how things ended. The book was the start of a series that followed different characters but I didn't continue on with it. If it's in the first book, it's going to be in the rest of the books. *le sigh*

And I agree 110%! Books really DO need content ratings! I was extremely grateful to the honest reviewer or else I would not have known about the F-bombs throughout the book. The majority of the reviews just raved about how amazing the book was and gave nothing on the content. Thankfully that was another KU book that I had grabbed. It got returned without even opening the book.

One thing I really love is authors who will take their steamy books and turn them into clean books for readers like us to enjoy. I will definitely support the authors clean books. I wish more would do it. :)Kathy Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16866693694627118740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7599742805326677348.post-49950060816672547662017-01-21T11:40:23.382-08:002017-01-21T11:40:23.382-08:00I guess it depends on how far into the book and wh...I guess it depends on how far into the book and what the content is. One book comes to mind, it was squeaky clean for 95% of the book and then had a sex scene (that I skipped) at the end. By then I was too invested in the story to just stop.

Other times if I can tell early in that it's not going to be clean I'll stop.

Books NEED content ratings. People would have a better reading experience overall if they knew what they were getting ahead of time.
