Cheyenne by Jennifer Peel

Synopsis:

What happens when your motto in life has been to always love yourself more than anyone could, but then you find someone that does it better? If you’re Cheyenne Fairchild, you do your best to push him away.

Cheyenne’s life has taught her to never depend on anyone, especially a man. She’s done her best to keep every relationship short and every man at arms-length. That is until the mysterious Aidan Bates moves to town. Not only does he give earth-shattering kisses, but he has the audacity to save her life after a tragic accident. Now Cheyenne can’t stop thinking about him and it’s driving her crazy. Worse, he won’t stop trying to help her.

While Cheyenne is doing her best to keep Aidan from working his way into her no vacancy heart, she finds herself embroiled in more than one Merryton scandal. One that rocks her best friend’s world and shows what Cheyenne is really made of. And one that she’s created in hopes of deterring Aidan. Unfortunately for her, she finds that it only brings them closer together.

Can Cheyenne let her defenses down long enough to see that Aidan is unlike any other man she has ever known? Or will she cling to the past and the mistakes that built the walls she’s carefully constructed around her heart.

My Review: 5 Stars

Over the years, Cheyenne has built a wall around her heart thanks to her father who had crushed her when she was just a young girl. She doesn't need a man in her life to love her or make her feel complete, she does a great job of that on her own. She has seen the lives her friends live and for a second thought that maybe she was missing out on something good. But then her ex-boyfriend, Paxton, showed her that she was wrong. She should have just stuck with her belief... you can never trust a man and you definitely do not need one in your life.

While travelling home one night, Cheyenne is involved in a freak automobile accident that nearly killed her. She would have died if it wasn't for the mysterious Aidan Bates appearing out of nowhere to save her. A near death experience would have anyone changing their ways and latching on to family and friends for help. But not Cheyenne. She is determined to do this alone and get her old self back. Because there is one thing that Cheyenne Fairchild will not do and that is to appear weak. She tries to put on a brave face for everyone around her but that accident did more to her than she is willing to admit.

Aidan came to Merryton to get his life back on track. After getting out of a marriage he had no business being in, he needs to stay away from all women. Enter Cheyenne. One look and he is instantly drawn to her. However, he knows her kind and knows it's best to stay far away from her. But seeing her go over the cliff changed something in him. He wasn't willing to admit it at first but, the more time passes, the more he sees that he was completely wrong about her. All this time he has been fighting his feelings for her but enough is enough. It's time to man up and go after the woman that he has been falling in love with.

Cheyenne refuses to let another man get close enough to hurt her again. She does her best to stay strong and not let Aidan past the walls that she has built. But the more he's around, the weaker her walls become. A piece of advice? Never underestimate a man in love. Especially one who helps her to see that she is not the person she wants everyone to think she is. There is more to her than anyone has ever taken the time to delve into and get to know. No one has ever made her feel the way that Aidan does. No one sees her the way Aidan sees her and it scares the living daylights out of her. This is all new territory and she doesn't know how to maneuver through it. Her head is screaming at her to get back to being the old Cheyenne. But her heart is softly whispering that she is better than that. She is an amazing and beautiful person. She is worth it. She does deserve to have the love of a good man in her life. And she most definitely deserves one big happily ever after!

Oh how I loved Cheyenne! The feels were definitely real my friends! I laughed, I cried, I growled in frustration, yelled at my kindle in anger, you name it and I more than likely felt it! The struggles were definitely real... both physically and emotionally. I loved watching Cheyenne grow and come to terms with who she really was.. not the person her father turned her into. She did a lot of self preservation but I thought Aidan was definitely key in her self-discovery.

And speaking of Aidan... *dreamy sigh* That. Man. Is. A. Saint! I loved how he knew what he wanted and refused to give up. He saw Cheyenne better than anyone else did. He saw the real her even before she did. I'm not going to lie... she could be a pain in the rear at times. But Aidan was extremely patient with her and loved her no matter what. He had all the time in the world and was willing to wait until she admitted to herself that she, too, was in love and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

Ms. Peel always amazes me with each book she releases! She is a natural when it comes to writing! I always know that I will be sucked in and will absolutely love each book she creates! I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for her next book baby to be released! <3

And check out this casting! I am seriously in love with these two! I think they are absolutely perfect! *dreamy sigh* <3

Author's Corner #7

Welcome to Author's Corner hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Once a month we will feature either a favorite author or new to us author. We will share the author's bio, one of our favorite books of theirs and a review. Each of us will be featuring a different author each month so there will also be links to each of our posts.

For this month's Author's Corner I am going to choose...

I am an Amazon best-selling author and all around dreamer and I love being a writer. I like to seek out new adventures whenever I can and a lot of the things I write about come from personal experience, including Barbie pageants, indoor skydiving, glass blowing, and goat wrestling. My favorite things are my family, friends, crisp autumn days, frozen gummy bears, and my silly, blue-eyed cat named Millie.

I cannot tell you how I found Jeanette Lewis but however it was I am SO glad I did! I have loved all her books I have read so far! She has a way of sucking me into her books. And we all know how much I love when an author can do that! 😉

So when I think of books by Jeanette Lewis I think of the Billionaire Bride Pact Series. And when I think of this series I instantly think of The Rebellious One! Oh my gosh! I loved this book! It was amazing! *dreamy sigh*

Holly Clarke is all set to marry the man of her dreams. Or rather, the man of her parents’ dreams. Whoever heard of a girl in 2016 America being betrothed? Holly knows she has to find a way out of the engagement—especially when she meets mysterious, sexy Jordan Fischler. But Jordan has a secret, and loving him could mean the end of everything Holly knows.

Summer Countdown Blitz - Day 15

Danyelle Ferguson discovered her love for the written word in elementary school. Her first article was published when she was in 6th grade. Since then, she’s won several awards and has been published world-wide in newspapers, magazines and books. She’s grateful every day to work in her dream jobs – author, editor, and nurturing her readaholic tendencies.

She grew up surrounded by Pennsylvania’s beautiful Allegheny Mountains. Then lived for ten years among the majestic Wasatch Mountains. She is currently experiencing mountain-withdrawal while living in Kansas with her husband and four angels-in-training. She enjoys reading, writing, dancing & singing in the kitchen, and the occasional long bubble bath to relax from the everyday stress of being “Mommy.”

"Be careful what you wish for . . .

Delphine Baudry wished to be a best-selling author, and now instead of celebrating and jumping into her next novel, she's frozen with fear. What if she turns out to be a one-hit-wonder? What if all her new fans hate the next book? To top it all off, she can't even discuss the situation with her favorite brainstorming partner, her mother, who is losing her memory to Alzheimer's. Taking a cue from some teens tossing Euros into a fountain, Delphine gives into some whimsy and wishes for her next book plot.

Jean-Paul Chassériau wished to start an online marketing company in La Rochelle. Now the real work begins. Feeling pressure to live up to his father's name in traditional marketing and far enough away to be out of his shadow, he has a million ideas but no clients. When he finds a funky old Franc lodged between cobblestones near a fountain, there was only one thing to do. Make a wish.

When their coins collide, Delphine and Jean-Paul's wishes become intertwined, changing the course of their futures and teaching them that wishes are sometimes fulfilled in unexpected ways."

Snippets:

“So, did I ruin your wish?” Delphine asked.
Jean-Paul smiled. She liked to jump right to the point, no tiptoeing around. “No, not at all. I’ve never seen two coins collide like that.”
“Ah, but just because you haven’t seen it, doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. Statistically, anyway,” Delphine said, picking up the cup and saucer.
“I’m willing to admit the probability is non-zero, but I can’t imagine it would be very high,” Jean-Paul shot back, interested to see her response to his geeky comment.
“Tell me,” Delphine said, leaning forward, intrigue glinting in her eyes. “How many coins have you seen thrown into that fountain?”
He folded his arms and brought up one finger to tap his chin, going for a deep-in-thought pose. “You’re right. Maybe we should perform an experiment. How about we meet here again on Thursday?”
His pulse sped up, wondering if she’d accept his invitation.

Never Trust the Rain by Laura D. Bastain

Synopsis:

When Ami goes to help her sister with a new baby in Scotland, she never imagined she’d fall for the hot Scot that came to rescue her from the airport when the baby comes a few weeks early.

Duncan’s always been willing to help his American co-worker adjust to life in Edinburgh, but when he’s sent to retrieve the guy’s sister-in-law from the airport, he didn’t expect to want to spend more time with her than just the short drive.

As they spend time together, their feelings grow, but can either of them agree to give up the life they know for the chance of a life together?

My Review: 4 Stars

Ami is headed to Scotland for her summer vacation to help her sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Chris, with their new baby. With Jessie's due date still a few weeks away, she's hoping to do a little sight seeing before the baby arrives. However, no one anticipated Jessie going into labor early... especially on the day that Ami arrives in Scotland!

Duncan doesn't hesitate when Chris asks him to pick up Ami from the airport. What better way to spend his day off than helping a friend in need and playing tour guide to a cute girl? However, Duncan had no idea that Ami would be so captivating. She's unlike anyone he's ever met and he just can't seem to get her out of his thoughts.

While both Ami and Duncan are not looking for any kind of relationship, they can't help but want to spend as much time with each other as possible. The more time the spend together, the closer they become, and the more they don't want to say goodbye to each other when Ami's time comes to an end. They have to wonder, is this really just a summer romance? Or do all signs point to a HEA together?

Oh how I love Scotland! I have always wanted to go there! And the rain! *dreamy sigh* I couldn't help but fall in love with the setting as I was reading the book! This was a cute, quick read. Perfect for Saturday afternoon! This is the first book I have read in this series and I'm looking forward to checking out some of the other books.

I have enjoyed all the books I have read by Ms. Bastian and am definitely looking forward to reading more!

As for my casting... this one is all me. I didn't catch very many details on our hero and heroine so I'm kinda winging it here... ;) What do you think?
